WSI Airport EIS submission information session
16th January 2024 at 7.30pm in the Wallacia Progress Hall

There will be significant negative impacts for us under the current proposed flights paths,
especially during the night time (11pm to 5.30am)

This meeting will be an opportunity for us to help you to look at the points of concern and practical suggestions to include in your submission to the EIS. It only needs to be a short statement or can include some of the information from the submissions that others have already sent. Your submission can make a difference.

It’s vitally important for local residents to have their say regarding the airport and the proposed flight paths by putting in a submission before 31 January 2024.

      Every submission counts
The draft EIS is available online at www.wsiflightpaths.gov.au.

  • Many residents under these flightpaths will NOT be eligible for the home noise mitigation scheme.
  • Residents around Kingsford Smith Airport are protected from aircraft noise by a legislated curfew. Why not us!
  • Exposure to this long term noise can lead to physical and psychological health consequences.
  • Read more information and what others have submitted at https://wallaciaprogressassociation.com.au/wsi-airport-information/

The next General meeting is
Tuesday 13th February 2024 7.30pm in the Wallacia Progress Hall

Friendly informative meetings. All welcome

Upper South Creek Advanced Water Pipeline through Wallacia

The work has already started with the boring of the pipeline under Jerrys Creek in Crossman Reserve completed. There will be a revegetating of the road after the work is completed.  The trenching will resume through Wallacia down into Fowlers Reserve where the boring underground will take the pipeline 30 metres under the Nepean River and under Silverdale Road. It will continue along the western side of the river and discharge below the weir.
Sydney Water has been asked for regular updates as the work progresses.

Community Information meeting soon.

The proposed cemetery at 276 Park Road and  723 727 Greendale Road Wallacia
The site runs from Park Road through to Greendale Road. All the details can be seen on the NSW planning portal HERE
The proposal is for a concept development application including detailed stage 1 works for the purposes of a cemetery development. It is envisaged that the masterplan will be constructed over a total of 6 stages. The cemetery includes ceremonial spaces, gatehouse, administration buildings, café, parking, access roads, landscaping, and earthworks. Stage 1 would include approximately 40,000 burial plots with the whole site projected to contain between 220,000 – 250,000 burial plots. The site has access from three roads. There is primary site access from Park Road in the north. There are two access points from Greendale Road, a main gateway entrance to the south west and a secondary entrance in the south. Access is also achieved from Silverwood Avenue in the west for the purposes of a maintenance/emergency access.

Wallacia Community - Be Involved

The Wallacia Progress Association (WPA) has been working with the community since 1908. The Progress Hall on Greendale Road was built by volunteers and opened in 1954, and has been used by the community ever since. It is one of the few village halls still owned and managed by volunteers and was registered as being of heritage significance in 2007.
Over the past few years the WPA volunteers have managed and enhanced the hall for the benefit of Wallacia. Upgrades have included emergency lighting and fire safety equipment. A Lions Club Australia grant funded installation of air conditioning and  a grant from the State Government funded installation of hand dryers to the toilets, outdoor sensor lights to enhance security and painting to the rear of the hall. The concrete paths to the toilet block is a great improvement and thankyou to Penrith City Council for the footpath from Greendale Road to the front of the hall. There is still plenty more to do and the committee is looking for new members and volunteers.
WPA is involved with caring for our local environment and community. We  want to focus on preserving our unique village lifestyle and working towards better facilities for all age groups as well as encouraging more community events. We need your help to do this!

Please let us know what you would like to see in Wallacia.

We need more members to work with the committee but also to just support the association by joining as a member.  Membership is only $1, although we appreciate any additional donation to assist financing the Association, which includes the ongoing operation of the hall.
The benefits of WPA membership includes notification of meetings, updates of happenings in and around Wallacia as well as supporting the Progress Hall.

WPA  Membership
If you are already a member, thank you for your support and if you have been a member in the past and haven't renewed then please do so as we rely on the financial support of our members. Membership to the Association is only $1 a year although donations are welcome!
