Our event next year is the ‘Back to Wallacia School’ event, proposed for Saturday 15th June 2024.
Previous students, staff and people connected to the school can come along for a day of memories as well as catching up with old friends.
Yet another large cemetery on 723 & 727 Greendale Road and 276 Park Road, Wallacia!
The site runs from Park Road through to Greendale Road. All the details can be seen on the NSW planning portal HERE
The proposal is for a concept development application including detailed stage 1 works for the purposes of a cemetery development. It is envisaged that the masterplan will be constructed over a total of 6 stages. The cemetery includes ceremonial spaces, gatehouse, administration buildings, café, parking, access roads, landscaping, and earthworks. Stage 1 would include approximately 40,000 burial plots with the whole site projected to contain between 220,000 – 250,000 burial plots. The site has access from three roads. There is primary site access from Park Road in the north. There are two access points from Greendale Road, a main gateway entrance to the south west and a secondary entrance in the south. Access is also achieved from Silverwood Avenue in the west for the purposes of a maintenance/emergency access.
The development contains nine key elements:
1. Chapels & Function Centre (As part of Stage 1 Development) 2. Ravenswood Common 3. Parthenon Precinct 4. Chain of Ponds 5. Mausoleum Precinct 6. Lakeside Chapel 7. Ascension Hill 8. Site Management Compound 9. The Glade
The proposal would be assessed under Part 4 of the EP&A Act and classed as SSD under the Planning Systems SEPP. Based on the Scoping Report, an indicative scope for the EIS has been developed, with the following key issues to be addressed in detail: • visual impacts on public domain and nearby residential receivers; • noise impacts on nearby residential receivers; • Aboriginal heritage impacts, namely impacts on potential sites neighbouring the western portion of the site; • land use impacts, including economic impacts to the region, compatibility with surrounding uses and displacement of existing agriculture; • hazards, namely the geotechnical impacts due to the land’s topography; • biodiversity impacts; including its location in a strategic conservation area • traffic and access, including the internal access roads • water impacts, including impacts of flooding, groundwater, and waterways; •socio-economic impacts, namely potential impacts to the Liverpool and Penrith Township;
Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre (AWRC) project.
UPDATE : The modification application was approved by the DPE on 26 May 2023. This means that landowners and the community in the Wollondilly local government area that were identified within the project’s Environmental Impact Statement will no longer be impacted by the construction of the e-flows pipeline to the Warragamba River. Further information, including a copy of the Modification Report, Submissions Report (including a copy of each submission), and DPE’s Notice of Determination can be viewed on the DPE Major Projects planning portal planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects by searching for ‘Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre’.
Information about the environmental assessment and planning approval can be found at
planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects/projects/upper-south-creek-advanced-water-recycling-centre.
This project will deliver sustainable wastewater treatment and high-quality recycled water to create a cooler, greener Western Parkland City, with a wide range of benefits for the entire community. Sydney Water has appointed a consortium to deliver the project. John Holland is responsible for design and construction, while GHD and Jacobs are providing engineering and design services. Trility is providing operations and maintenance advice during delivery and will be responsible for operating the AWRC during its first five years.
Site establishment at the AWRC site off Clifton Avenue, Kemps Creek, will begin in the coming months, with pipeline construction starting towards the end of this year. The AWRC is due to be operational in 2026.
